Peugeot on the UK used market: BlueHDi diesels and AdBlue, the infotainment record, the recall list, and the Stellantis group context.
The address of this page was a stock listing on a used-car dealer site that no longer exists. The stock is gone; what follows is a reference to the marque itself — what you will meet on the UK used market, and what is worth checking. Nothing here is offered for sale.
Peugeot’s modern range is dominated by the 208 and 2008 in the UK. BlueHDi is the badge for diesels using selective catalytic reduction with an AdBlue urea solution; PureTech is the petrol family; GT Line is an appearance trim rather than a performance one.
Owner surveys of the 208 report electrical faults as the leading complaint, centred on the infotainment system and the switchgear, with the touchscreen known for freezing — sometimes cured by a software update, sometimes needing the unit replaced. Bonnet latches, brakes and oil leaks also appear in the fault reports. On the viewing, use the screen properly rather than confirming it lights up.
The 208 carries a long recall history, the largest single action covering front suspension wishbone mounting bolts that could break and cause loss of steering control. Recall work is free of charge, so this is a check to run rather than a reason to avoid the model.
Peugeot now belongs to Stellantis, which has issued stop-drive recall action on other group models over Takata airbag inflators. Different model lines, same lesson: check the registration on the DVSA service.
A small diesel used mainly in town works against its own particulate filter, because regenerations are interrupted before they complete and unburnt fuel reaches the sump. If the car will do short cold journeys, the petrol equivalent is the better engineering match. Read the MOT history for the annual mileage pattern to see how the car has actually been used.
