Alfa Romeo’s modern UK range is built around the Giulia saloon and the Stelvio SUV, sharing a rear-drive-based platform with an optional four-wheel-drive system the company calls Q4. Diesel versions carry the TD badge; the petrol range runs from a four-cylinder turbo to the six-cylinder Quadrifoglio performance cars.

What to check

The two questions that decide a used Alfa are the emissions standard and the electronics. On a diesel, Euro 6 is the standard needed to enter the London ULEZ without paying, and the charging clean air zones in England use the same standard — so establish it against the registration before anything else.

For the rest, treat it as any modern premium car with a lot of driver-assistance and infotainment hardware: work through every screen, switch and camera on the viewing, start the engine from properly cold and listen for a rattle in the first seconds, and read the whole MOT history rather than the current certificate.
